The Wessex CLT Project* is hosted by Wessex Community Assets. It was set up in 2010 to help communities deliver affordable homes and establish CLTs. The Project now has a pipeline of 16 schemes; 12 of which are due to provide around 120 homes by early 2015 with further schemes completing in 2017. Although CLTs have independently developed very inspiring housing schemes in our area - e.g. Buckland Newton, High Bickington, East Portlemouth - we have found the most popular approach to be a partnership between the CLT and a Housing Association.

West Milton Cider CompanyWest Milton Cider
This is the home of West Milton Cider, producers of the award winning Lancombe Rising cider and a traditional barrelled cider known as West Dorset Real Cider. We produce Lancombe Rising, our naturally sparkling cider through the old English method of keeving, to produce a full flavoured refreshing drink.  The taste of apples and caramel are prominent as the cider finishes its fermentation in the bottle at a medium to sweet level, becoming drier as the cider matures.

This art of keeving cider is still used throughout Normandy and Brittany for all cider making, and is known as ‘cidre boucher’, but has largely disappeared in English production.  In November of 2009 we were very pleased to win a first prize at the “Concours de Cidre” at St Helen de Bondeville in Normandy.

Nick produces cider  in our barn at Lancombe Cross West Milton, pressing apples collected from orchards in this and the next village; both old and commercial.

The cider is a blend of juice from several varieties including Yarlington Mill, Chisel Jersey, Dabinett and Bulmers Norman. Lancombe Rising was 2nd the Bath & West Show 2013.

Our Draught cider -West Dorset Real Cider - was given the Bronze Award at the CAMRA National Cider Competition in Reading 2013
